Candice, a North Alabama native, began adulthood early as a teenage single mother. Determined not to become a statistic, she committed to building a life for herself and her two children. A chance meeting at her parents’ home introduced her to Jarius, a high school football star. After five years went by and with no contact, he began to pursue her with a steady, kind love - the type her young, tattered heart didn’t believe she deserved. But his patience paid off. The two married, and not long after, Candice became an NFL wife. Their family moved to Arizona, where it grew by one more. Candice poured herself into motherhood and into supporting Jarius’s career. Following a career-ending injury, the Hayes family of five returned to the Huntsville, AL area.
Candice launched Candy’s Corporate Cleaning Services, a business she ran for over 18 years, teaching her children responsibility and the value of hard work. She authored two books – We Cleaned our Home Yesterday and The Hope Journal – and collaborated with other writers to publish Voices of Wellness.
Today, she’s the co-host with Jarius of the podcast From the Game 2 Grace and runs Candy’s Candles, a woman-owned business creating hand-poured, phthalate-free candles designed to bring calm to this hectic world.
Candice is passionate about helping others find hope and joy, even in life’s hardest seasons. Whether navigating mental illness in her own family, launching businesses, writing books, or simply facing everyday struggles, she shares her story so others can find strength in theirs.

Jarius Hayes grew up a standout athlete and played college football at the University of North Alabama (UNA), where he earned NCAA Division II All-American honors for three seasons and helped lead his team to three national championships. In his junior year there, he began pursuing the love of his life, Candice, with the same steady determination he brought to the field. After marrying in 1996, Jarius, Candice, and her two children moved to Arizona for his first NFL contract with the Arizona Cardinals. They soon grew to a family of five, and during the off season of his rookie year, he played in the NFL European League in Amsterdam. When a lingering injury cut his NFL career short, Jarius faced the difficult transition from chasing his dream to finding his next purpose.
With a heart for troubled youth, he began working at the largest youth detention center in the state of Arizona. He also completed extensive training in crisis intervention, anger management, substance abuse, and behavioral support during his time at the detention center.
After several years, Jarius and his family moved back to North Alabama to be closer to family. He brought that same passion for youth to the local community – volunteering his time with local high school football teams. He also authored the book A Message to the Man.
Today, Jarius is the host with Candice of the podcast From the Game 2 Grace, and he continues serving at the church he attends and leads in the Men’s Ministry. Jarius uses his own story – from a career-ending injury to family struggles with mental illness to the love of sports – to offer real-life guidance on managing emotions, building strong marriages, and finding healthy friendships.
